PinJob App — AI-Powered Resume Builder & Career Platform

PinJob App is an all-in-one career platform designed to give job seekers a competitive edge. I joined the project as a full-stack developer, contributing to an existing codebase and helping expand its core features. The platform offers multiple ways to create a professional resume: users can upload an existing CV and have AI rewrite it to be ATS-friendly, or build one from scratch using our library of ATS-optimized templates. The AI engine, powered by Gemini, analyzes and restructures content to maximize compatibility with applicant tracking systems used by employers. What makes PinJob powerful is its job aggregation — pulling listings from multiple sources including LinkedIn, Anapec, and PinTalent into one searchable interface. Users can then generate tailored resumes that match specific job descriptions, significantly increasing their chances of getting past automated screening. The career roadmap feature helps users plan their professional growth. Based on their resume or responses to guided questions, the AI generates personalized career paths showing potential roles that match their profile, along with recommended steps, skills to develop, and training programs to reach their goals. The frontend was built with Vue 3 and Vuetify for a clean, responsive interface, while Django powers the backend API and business logic. PostgreSQL handles all data storage

What I Learned

Technical Growth: This project was my deep dive into AI-powered document generation. I learned to craft prompts that transform messy, unstructured resume content into clean, ATS-optimized text — understanding what applicant tracking systems look for and how to structure content accordingly.
Building the job-resume matching feature taught me to think about relevance scoring and how to extract keywords from job descriptions to tailor generated content. The career roadmap generator pushed me further into prompt engineering guiding AI to produce structured, actionable career advice rather than generic suggestions.
Working with job aggregation from multiple sources taught me to handle inconsistent data formats and normalize them into a unified structure. Joining an existing codebase also sharpened my ability to read, understand, and extend code written by others — a critical skill for any team environment.
Soft Skills & Professional Growth: Unlike solo projects where I control everything, this required adapting to existing patterns, conventions, and architectural decisions. I learned to balance my ideas with team consistency sometimes the "better" approach isn't worth the disruption to an established codebase.
This project reinforced that AI features require constant iteration. The first prompt rarely produces perfect results; refining AI output is an ongoing process of testing, tweaking, and understanding edge cases.
Working on a product that directly impacts people's job searches felt meaningful. Every feature improvement could help someone land their next opportunity that sense of purpose made the work more rewarding.
