Administrative Dashboard

A powerful admin dashboard with real-time analytics on visitors, donations, and engagement featuring role-based access, content management, and interactive Chart.js visualizations. Built with Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and JWT authentication.

As part of the Inda Association platform, I developed a comprehensive admin dashboard giving the team full visibility and control over website operations. The dashboard serves multiple user roles — admins, content managers, and staff — each with tailored permissions and access levels. The main view displays key metrics at a glance: total visitors, donations, messages, and revenue with percentage changes from the previous month. Interactive Chart.js visualizations show visitor trends and donation performance over time, with filtering options for time range and currency. Beyond analytics, the dashboard provides full content management. Admins can manage users, assign roles and permissions, moderate forum posts and comments, handle donations and causes, review testimonials and feedback, and oversee all messaging activity including partner communications. Built with security in mind using JWT authentication and role-based access control, the system ensures users only access what they're authorized to. Data export functionality supports external reporting needs.

My Tasks

Designed and developed the full admin dashboard as part of the Inda Association platform
Built an intuitive UI with a clean sidebar navigation and responsive card-based layout
Implemented real-time analytics displaying visitors, donations, messages, and total revenue
Created interactive Chart.js visualizations with filtering options (time range, currency)
Developed role-based access control system (admin, content manager, staff) with granular permissions
Built user management module: view, edit, assign roles, and delete users
Implemented content management for posts, causes, testimonials, feedbacks, and forum moderation
Created donation tracking and management features
Built messaging oversight tools for regular and partner messages
Implemented secure authentication using JWT tokens
Added data export functionality for reporting purposes
Collaborated with the client in dedicated meetings to define dashboard requirements and validate features
Worked within a team environment, coordinating frontend and backend development

What I Learned

Technical Growth: Building this dashboard deepened my understanding of data visualization I learned how to structure data for Chart.js, create dynamic filtering, and present complex metrics in a way that's immediately understandable. Working with real-time statistics taught me to optimize database queries for performance, especially when aggregating large amounts of visitor and donation data.
Implementing role-based access control was a valuable challenge. I learned to design permission systems that are both secure and flexible allowing different team members to access exactly what they need without compromising sensitive data. JWT authentication reinforced my understanding of token-based security and session management.
Soft Skills & Professional Growth:
This project required me to think from the administrator's perspective what information do they need first? How can they complete tasks quickly? I learned that a good dashboard isn't about showing everything, it's about showing the right things clearly.
Client meetings specifically about the dashboard taught me to ask better questions: instead of "what features do you want?", I learned to ask "what decisions do you need to make daily?" — this shifted the focus from features to outcomes.
Working in a team on a complex feature like this improved my ability to divide work logically, communicate progress clearly, and integrate different pieces without breaking existing functionality.
