I designed and developed a full-stack employee management application for a client needing a centralized system to handle their workforce data and track business performance. The dashboard provides real-time sales analytics with hourly breakdowns, recent deposit tracking, and quick access to financial balances. The sidebar navigation allows easy access to core modules: employee management, transaction records, and detailed reporting filtered by month, quarter, or custom date ranges. The frontend was built with React.js and Material UI for a clean, professional interface that's intuitive to use. The backend runs on NestJS with TypeScript, providing a scalable, well-structured API layer. PostgreSQL handles all data storage with properly designed relational schemas for employees, transactions, and reporting data. Security was a priority — the app includes JWT-based authentication ensuring only authorized users can access sensitive employee and financial information. The CRUD system allows seamless creation, viewing, updating, and deletion of employee records with validation at every step. Built as a solo project with regular client meetings to gather requirements and validate progress throughout development.

What I Learned

Technical Growth: This was my first major project using NestJS, and I quickly appreciated its modular architecture and how well it pairs with TypeScript for building maintainable backends. I deepened my understanding of relational database design with PostgreSQL structuring tables, writing efficient queries, and handling relationships between employees, transactions, and reports.
Working with Material UI taught me to balance speed and customization — leveraging pre-built components while adapting them to match client branding. TypeScript across the full stack improved my code quality and helped catch bugs before they reached production.
Soft Skills & Professional Growth: Running this project solo meant owning every decision — from database design to button placement. I learned to manage my time effectively, prioritize features that delivered the most value first, and communicate progress clearly to the client.
Regular client meetings sharpened my ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. I learned that asking "why do you need this?" often leads to simpler, better features than just building exactly what's requested.
