The Inda Association needed a digital presence that could serve their global community a platform where visitors could learn about the organization, donate securely, and engage with one another across language barriers. I developed a full-stack web application that combines a fast, SEO-friendly Next.js frontend with a robust Node.js/Express backend. The platform supports multiple languages through i18n, allowing users to navigate seamlessly in their preferred language. A key feature is the secure donation system with integrated payment processing, built with reliability and trust in mind. Beyond donations, the site includes a community space with chat and forum functionality, enabling members to connect and collaborate. The backend was designed with scalability in mind, using MongoDB for flexible data storage and RESTful APIs optimized for performance. Throughout the project, I worked within an Agile/Scrum framework, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives to ensure steady progress and clear communication with stakeholders.

My Tasks

Led the project as developer, designer, and project manager wearing multiple hats throughout the engagement
Conducted regular client meetings to gather requirements, validate progress, and ensure alignment with their vision
Inherited an existing website in poor condition and completely redesigned it within a tight deadline based on client feedback
Refactored the entire codebase — fixing logic issues, restructuring the architecture, and improving security
Developed a responsive, accessible frontend with Next.js and Tailwind CSS, optimized for all devices
Built a scalable RESTful API with Node.js and Express.js for secure data handling
Implemented multilingual support (i18n) to serve a global user base
Integrated secure payment processing for online donations
Created real-time chat and forum features for community engagement
Designed MongoDB schemas for flexible, efficient data storage
Followed Agile/Scrum practices for sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
Maintained version control and collaborative workflow using Git

What I Learned

Technical Growth: Deepened my understanding of server-side rendering and static generation with Next.js. Gained hands-on experience integrating third-party payment APIs securely and learned best practices for implementing internationalization in a React app. Refactoring a legacy codebase taught me how to quickly assess architectural weaknesses and implement cleaner, more secure solutions under pressure.
Soft Skills & Professional Growth: This project taught me patience and persistence debugging complex i18n edge cases and payment integrations required staying calm and methodical when things broke. Managing client relationships improved my communication skills; I learned to translate technical concepts into language stakeholders understand and to ask the right questions to uncover their real needs.
Balancing multiple roles (developer, designer, manager) pushed me to be adaptable and organized. I learned to prioritize ruthlessly, switch contexts quickly, and keep the big picture in mind while handling details. Working under a tight deadline to completely transform an existing site taught me that pressure can fuel creativity — sometimes constraints bring out your best work.
Finally, coordinating with teammates and aligning everyone around evolving requirements strengthened my collaboration and leadership skills. I became more comfortable giving and receiving feedback, running productive meetings, and keeping morale high when timelines got stressful.
